Why sellers leave Payhip
- Payhip's 0% plan costs $99 a month. Sell is 0% for €19.
- On the free plan, 5% of each sale goes to Payhip before Stripe takes its own share.
- Sell ships what software and type sellers need: signed licence keys verified offline, versioned releases, free trial downloads, a type tester that never exposes the font file.
When Payhip is the better choice
- You want a full website builder, blog and email marketing in the same tool.
- You want EU VAT collected and remitted for you.
Questions
- Is Thinkspark Sell cheaper than Payhip?
- Once you sell more than a few hundred euros a month, yes. Payhip charges Free plan with 5% per sale, Plus $29/month with 2%, Pro $99/month with 0% — Stripe or PayPal fees on top. Sell charges €19 a month flat and 0% per sale; you pay Stripe's own processing fee (about 1.5% + €0.25 on standard EEA cards) directly to Stripe.
- Who receives the money?
- You do, on your own Stripe account. Buyers pay your Stripe directly; Thinkspark Sell never holds, routes or pays out your revenue.
- Who handles VAT?
- You are the merchant of record on your own Stripe account: you collect and declare VAT, and Stripe Tax can calculate it for you.
- Can I move my products from Payhip?
- Yes. Create the products in Sell (or push them from a script with the public API), upload the files, connect Stripe and publish. Past buyers can keep their old downloads; new buyers pay you directly.
